Doctor Herb Courtney
Dr. Courtney grew up in the Snohomish area and graduated from Snohomish High School. He received his undergraduate education from Washington State University and Pacific University. He earned his Doctorate of Optometry from Pacific University School of Optometry. Dr. Courtney has been providing quality eye care in Monroe for over thirty years. His practice offers comprehensive vision exams including the diagnosis and treatment of a wide array of eye disease and injuries. He is a current member of the Optometric Physicians of Washington. In his free time, Dr. Courtney enjoys hiking, trail running, fishing and also playing jazz trombone with local bands. He also enjoys spending time with his two children, three granddaughters and his large extended family.
Doctor Stan Sessions
Dr. Sessions performed his undergraduate studies at Ricks College and Brigham Young University. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry, graduating with honors in 1997. Thereafter, Dr. Sessions completed a one year residency in Seattle. His residency focused on the treatment of ocular disease and surgical co-management with full therapeutic privileges. Following his residency, Dr. Sessions worked at TLC Northwest Laser Center in Lynnwood where he worked with patients having laser refractive surgery. There he provided pre-operative counseling, examinations and post-operative care. Dr. Sessions joined Dr. Courtney at The Monroe Vision Clinic in 1999. He provides full-scope optometric care to patients of all ages. His practice includes ocular disease management, post-surgical care of cataract, corneal disease, glaucoma, vitreo-retinal disease and contact lenses. He lives with his wife Amber and their 5 children in Snohomish. He enjoys traveling, boating and alpine skiing with his family, racquetball and golfing.
Doctor Britta Hansen Brown
Dr. Hansen Brown is married and lives in Snohomish, where her husband teaches and coaches. They have two young children together. She joined MVC in 2018. Dr. Hansen Brown has practiced medically-based optometry since 2011 and enjoys participating in challenging glaucoma and corneal cases, as well as monitoring macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, in addition to fitting glasses and contact lenses. As hobbies, Dr. Hansen Brown likes arts and crafts, being outdoors, spending time with family and music.
Doctor Joe Lee
Dr. Lee is an optometrist with a focus on the treatment and management of ocular disease and fitting of soft and specialty contact lenses. He completed his optometry training at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. Following graduation, he went on to complete a residency in ocular disease at the Louis Stokes Veteran Affairs medical center in Cleveland, Ohio, the third largest VA hospital in the country. During his residency, he worked with retinal and corneal ophthalmologists, and optometric physicians in ocular disease, low vision, and medically necessary contact lenses. Prior to joining MVC in 2019, he practiced in an ophthalmology private practice in Kirkland, where he co-managed cataract and eyelid surgeries and practiced medical optometry. A Southern California native, Dr. Lee completed his undergrad studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, with a B.S. in physiological sciences. In his free time, he enjoys the outdoors, traveling, and photography.
Doctor Mason Schneider
Dr. Mason Schneider was born in Seattle and raised in Renton, Washington. He decided to pursue a career in eye care after being diagnosed with two retinal tears, a potentially sight-threatening condition. Fortunately the problem was diagnosed and corrected before it had any affect on vision. Dr. Schneider owes the vision in his left eye to his family optometrist who was careful and thorough in his examination. Dr. Schneider is committed to giving his patients the same thoughtful and comprehensive care he is so grateful to have received. He completed his undergrad studies at Brigham Young University with a B.S. in Nutritional Science, optometry training at Pacific University Oregon and completed his residency at Salt Lake City VA Medical Center.
Dr. Schneider and his wife have three energetic young boys. He enjoys spending time with his family and having fun outdoors.

Amanda became part of our team as a receptionist in 2012. She greets patients with a smile and a helpful attitude. Amanda works with insurance companies to ensure our patients have the most accurate information on their benefit coverage. Reading is her favorite pastime when she’s not busy chasing her young son.
Danica joined the Monroe Vision Clinic family in 2006. She has specialized in insurance claims and billing for the past 10 years. She loves a challenge and looks forward to helping patients with their insurance questions. Originally from Canada, she travels home to Saskatoon to visit family whenever she can. Danica enjoys baking, motorcycle riding with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jennifer has been greeting patients here at Monroe Vision Clinic since 1999. She always ensures that things run smoothly at the reception area. Jennifer grew up in Monroe and resides nearby with her husband and 4 children. She enjoys gardening, shopping and church activities.
Katie uses her exceptional multi-tasking skills to greet patients with a smile, get them checked in and assist in any way possible when you call into our office. She has lived in this area her whole life and while not working she enjoys spending family time with her husband and two young children.
Kim verifies insurance and works hard to ensure we have the most accurate insurance coverage information so we can provide our patients with the best possible benefit details. She has a big heart and provides exceptional care to all of our patients. Outside of the office, Kim most enjoys spending time with her family, friends and her grandson.
Amy returned to our team in 2014, having previously worked as our optometric technician for 5 years. She always brings her calm and caring attitude into the office. Amy enjoys fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. She enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband, teenage son and daughter and can be seen cheering at her daughter’s soccer games.
Chloe assists the doctors with pretesting patients for routine eye exams, glaucoma, post operative and contact lens are care and many other aspects related to your appointment. She strives to make each and every patient feel right at home.
Kristin has been an optometric technician here at Monroe Vision Clinic since 2009. She aids the doctors in routine vision care, glaucoma and macular degeneration testing as well as contact lens care. She excels at customer service and patients enjoy her attentive and genuine personality. Kristin loves to travel with her husband and enjoys vacationing to Lake Chelan and Hawaii.
Riley became a member of our team in 2019, shortly after graduating from the University of Washington Bothell. He is planning on becoming an optometrist in the future. For now, you can find him helping patients get started before they see one of the doctors, as well as doing additional screenings for many eye disorders. Riley enjoys spending time outdoors skiing, backpacking, and playing volleyball.
Licensed Dispensing Optician
Brenda has been working in the field of optics for longer than she would like to admit, over 30 years. She grew to love the field of optics and got her license in 1990. Before that time she was a Licensed Cosmetologist, which helps her in this field; she has an understanding of the bone structure of a face. She loves helping people see and look better with the correct frame shape and color, without forgetting how important the proper fit is. Although she loves optics, her first love is her 5 grand kids and the funny things they say and do. She loves to travel and go to new places and doesn’t usually go back to the same place twice. Brenda loves to swim and snorkel, she thinks she must have been a fish in her previous life.
American Board of Opticianry Certified
Carissa began working in the Optometry industry in 2008 after becoming a Certified Computer Applications Specialist, graduating with honors. Starting out at the front desk she then became a fully trained technician and then an Optician. Carissa has lived in the Monroe area her whole life and enjoys working with patients to find the best solution for their vision and style needs and is proud to work in a practice with a high standard for patient care. In her spare time she contributes to many industry related publications on various product and marketing topics and is happy to be coined as a dork by most people, especially her husband and son.
Licensed Dispensing Optician
Desiree originated from California and has been in the Optical industry since 2001. She brings a diverse experience to Monroe Vision, as she has worked in several facets of the optical industry. Desiree loves to continue her optical knowledge and understanding, and is currently working to become a Master Optician. With an eye for fashion, she feels the biggest reward of this line of work is helping people find the perfect frame and seeing their best, melding fashion and function. In her spare time, Desiree enjoys time with her bustling family of 6. They all share a love of nature and enjoy hiking, biking, and other outdoor activities in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
